Engagement Models

Before starting a project, SoftwareQ and client company discuss the project in detail to help determine the most suitable engagement model. The engagement models include Fixed Cost, Pilot, Time & Material (T & M), and Dedicated Testing Teams.

Fixed Cost

If the time-frame and cost of your project are fixed, it should be implemented under Fixed Cost business model. This model ideally suits small and medium sized projects (2-3 months). The Distinct Features of the Fixed Cost Model:

  • The project is implemented within the fixed budget and well-defined timelines;
  • The scope of the services is agreed upon and exact plan is made up;
  • Client must provide SoftwareQ with well-defined requirements before the project starts;
  • SoftwareQ then provides client with project estimation that is based on software requirements specifications provided by client;
  • Client pays for additional requests over the fixed budget.

Before project execution, SoftwareQ work closely with the client to discuss the project requirements and the scope of the work. Then, client is provided with an accurate project estimate that is based on the plan and documentation. Once the timeline and cost are approved by the client, the project execution commences.

Pilot Project

Before embarking on major projects, clients may opt to engage SoftwareQ in small trial projects (usually no more than 3-6 man-weeks) to assess SoftwareQ’s performance, processes, and overall fit.

Time & Material (T & M)

Time & Material model (T & M) is suitable for long-term projects when it is not feasible to provide the client an accurate project estimation due to the size of the project, or frequent changes in client’s software requirement specifications. Moreover, often times softwrae projects which are based on new technologies and platforms often face unforeseen software implementation challenges which may put software testing on hold for a period of time until the technical issues are resolved by client company. In this scenario, it’s advantageous for the client company to select the Time & Material business model.

Dedicated Testing Teams

Dedicated testing team leasing is an excellent option for companies which strive to cut their testing costs and concentrate on their core activities. In this case either of the following business models will work well:

  • Time & Material scheme;
  • Customer payment = tester’s salary + overhead costs.

Overhead costs include facilities and infrastructure maintenance, taxes, accounting and lawyer support, etc. The overhead costs in Ukraine are a fraction of overhead costs in the US or Europe.
